Vištiena su Klevų Sirupu/ Maple Syrup Chicken

Pagal/ Source HugsAndCookiesXoxo

Our Irish friend visited us for a few weeks. One weekend he decided to make us dinner, nothing special, just to roast the whole chicken. When the chicken was already in the oven, he decided that he will also make some gravy. Then it turned out that at home we don't have any stock,  cornstarch or tomato sauce.. But our friend didn't get upset, he said that booze can fix anything. So he made a gravy using chicken juices and red wine and it tasted amazing. How much wine he used I have no idea, but gravy was really delicious.

Well I didn't use as much wine as our Irish friend but since I did not have fresh thyme I decided to use 0,25 cup of red wine instead of vinegar to improve the recipe. Anyway, wine in this recipe  is not necessary, but recommended.

Servings: 6

Products:

6 chicken breasts with skin on (I used drumsticks)
Salt and pepper to taste
Oil for frying
0.5 cup chicken stock
0.5 cup maple syrup
1 tbsp chopped thyme (I used dried)
4 cloves garlic (minced)
2 tbsp white wine vinegar
2 tbsp mustard powder

Method:

Preheat the oven to 200C. Grease 22x 33cm baking tin.

In a large skillet over medium heat heat the oil. Rub the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Place chicken to the skillet and fry on both sides until browned. Remove the chicken from the pan and place in a baking dish.

Add chicken stock, maple syrup, thyme and garlic to the frying pan. Bring it to a boil and simmer for a few minutes stirring, add vinegar (or wine if you are using it), mustard powder and simmer for about a minute.
Pour sauce over chicken and bake for about 30 minutes or until chicken is done.
